I've currently got :
Yamaha RXV440 Amp
Wharfedale PI-30 mains
Wharfedale PI-10 surrounds
Wharfdale Dimond 9cc Center
Wharfdale PI-Center as the rear (The Center and Rear are interchangeable)

I recently Ballanced the speakers using a Sound Preasure meter and set the correct delays to my seating area. The results have been stunning where surround effects have been concerned. However, dialogue is muffled (it alwas has been really) Turning the volume up improves this however as soon as some action occurs the volume then has to be quicky turned down.

Check both drivers are working on the centre speaker
Check centre speaker is enabled and in the correct DSP mode.
Play around with dynamic range compression. I have a feeling it's this (do a good search)

Do you have another amp to try out?

I have swaped the center speaker and the rear center over, a few times but there is no improvement in dialogue.
The Center Speaker is enabled
The DSP is Dolby digital on Dolby sound Tracks.

This problem only seems to be apparent during DVDs. I do not notice it when watching TV. (DPS is PLII) I suspect this is because there is more happening in Dolby Didital Sound tracks. As I said the dialogue is fine at louder volumes, but I can not sustain these volumes due to their anti-socialness when any action starts.

I do not have access to another amp (just yet) unforunantly

I'm unfaliliar with dynamic range compression ***Wonders off to Google***
