Did computer hacking destroy ONdigital?

I knew 2 of them in real life and they used to be into all sorts of stuff before On Digital. ...
So, who did you know then, was it one of the Pauls, one of the Bates, Mark or Jason?

Do you know whether they ever succeeded in hacking and selling Sky smart cards? Just wundrin' . . .

Anything that could be chipped got chipped including Philips D12 phones.
I first met them at the AtariST/Amiga Club that was held at the YMCA near Hanley Park in the late 80s and even then they were the guys to go to.
The 18 year old girl who got arrested is my rhythm guitarists daughter who was a totally innocent shop assistant at the High Lane shop and was let off.

One of them was also the guy who was in charge of the blanket guys outside of Bowlers Computer Fair and he always had two body guards with him.

'Blanket guys':
Anybody who went to Bowlers would see blankets laid on the ground with 1000s of pirated cd's for all sorts of stuff and when the authoriteeeez approached they would just blanket them up and run.

Were you ever involved in #warezstoke on irc (efnet) during the the early 00's?

Pc shop was PC Smart, mates used to work there until it moved and became Neo Tech ( now under new ownership as Paul lives in the states)

I think you probably knew/know Mav from DoD?

I knew PO and he was the Mr Big at Bowlers but I never got too close.
Pc Smart was the shop on High Lane where my mates daughter worked.
We are talking about the same people and I knew them from the 80s.
He moved to the US did he?

Yes I knew Paul also from irc and pc smart, iirc he emigrated to the US 3/4 years ago and sold the shop on brownhills road. PC Smart was brilliant, shops should be like that nowadays :)

I kinda know the rest of the guys you do, not in person but from friends and online events.

Good ole days back then, miss em too!

I was surprised by this Panaroma special (I not watched it just heard about) as I genuinly thought it was common knowledge.

I use to work with a guy into the "Hacking set top box" scene and he told me at the time this was being launched that the box had already been hacked. Then a few weeks later it turned out the main guy doing the cracking and issuing instructions was an employee of BSkyB.

While I am just a guy on an internet forum - for what its worth I can tell you it is 100% true.

Guessing voicemail PIN's have not been changed from default is only really 'hacking' in the eyes of newspaper headlines.

As well as pretty much the definition of the word, of course.
