Did itunes used to charge for the service ?

Just having a discussion with my dad, and he said he paid £18 3 years ago, simply to access itunes? Is this right ? :eek:

I always assumed it was free to use, and you pay for what you download ? (this seems to be the case now, but was it at any point any different ?)

iTunes has always been free. So two options here.

Not sure, it was some sort of subscription, 15 or something for a year, or 18 for 3 years, i think he did pay something, but iv no idea what it was? lol Any other services popular around that time ?
