Did Patrick Stewart do Crystal Maze?

I can swear when I was little watching Cystal Maze I always took the micky out of the bald guy. Now, looking back at the program (and it's awesome soundtrack!

) and comparing to Captain Picard of the Star Trek I can swear they're the same guy!

Can any one comment on this?

Oh, and wasn't Dirty Den from Eastenders that guy from the lame Channal 5 equivalent that was at sea?

Google gets boring after a while tbh. Human interaction is far more entertaining as you get to discuss the result. However, thanks for the answer.
It must have looked a hell of a lot like Patrick Stewart though!

That Lame Channel 5 version (Fort Boyard) was actually the original that Crystal Maze was based on.

I've just Laughed so hard i've sicked up in my mouth.

It brings up ideas of Patrick Stewart behaving somewhat like the mickey take he did of himself in Extras.
