I've had my new car for a few weeks now but my old one has still been on the drive.

Today it passed M.O.T and i've gave it to my best mate. Just watched him drive it away up the road and a wave of sad emotions flooded over me, i actually feel a little upset watching it being drove away by someone else.

Were you lot the same, or am i just queer :p

A little bit with my first car but not much - I havent kept many of my cars long enough to get attached, the only one I've kept for longer than 12 months is my current car and its difficult to get emotionally attached to a Mondeo! Letting the Alfa go was a bit sad too, an end of a (4 month!) era almost.

I used to get more attached to my Dad's cars because of the amount of time we spent in them, the memories associated with them and the fact they were a bit nicer than my first cars!

Yes, very. Had a 1.4 306 and have a 1.6 Focus now. Technically the Focus is a better car in every way, but I still miss my Pug.

It was very easy letting go of my first car, I left that (1.2 Corsa B) behind, and drove away in a nice, comfortable and much faster Calibra.

Two cars I've gotten rid of were painful however.

My Rover Coupe, but that was made easier after finding three more things wrong for it on route to an MOT which I'd been preparing the car for a few months.

And My Corrado VR6, I picked the buyer up from Southampton Station, drove back to the boat and then had to hand the keys over and watch him drive away, leaving me on foot. To make matters worse, he gave it a good blip when leaving, I was genuinely sad, even though it was being replaced by the VXR, a car I had wanted since details were first leaked when I was about 18 (I still had my first car at the time), and would have never imagined I'd own one whilst they were still "current".

I had a one year old Fiesta Zetec 1.25, body coloured bumpers, alloys, electric goodies, a really smart first car, but I don't recall feeling sad when it came to move it on.

I guess ultimately, although I'm a petrolhead, cars are just cars, so I don't hold any sentimental attachment, especially as moving one car out of the garage means something tastier shall be filling its space...

TBH most the cars I have had I have missed, especially
Subaru Legacy and Mazda MX5, the MX5 the most :(

Anyway, life goes on.

No, and even not even when I undid the seatbelt when hanging upside down in the middle of the road. :p

nope, not even when the front subframe collapsed a couple of days after I'd slammed it sideways into a kerb and I left it at the side of the road to rust away.

Ahh the mid 90s.. you could get away with anything then :)

You're just queer mate.

Only jesting. I miss just one out of the 7 that I've owned; it was sadly written off by White Van Man.

It was a Peugeot 205 1.4 GT (mmmmm). It had character and a really revvy engine.

I didn't all the time I had it, nor did I feel sad when I got rid of it, but when I heard it'd been it'd been scrapped because the guy that bought it off me CBA to look after it properly, I was a bit disappointed.

Very first one, no. Was given it free and gave it back two weeks later.
Proper first one, yes...so much so it's been at on the drive for over a year now rotting away but i can't part with it :D :(

I'm still attached :p

Got my Golf when I was 17, and thought I'd have to sell it when I came to uni. Managed to keep it in my ex girlfriends garden :p

Not one iota. Couldn't wait to see the back of it.

My second car however holds a lot of incredibly memories, and I do miss it from time to time even now 4 years later.

yup, bought my mx-5 when i was 18 saved up for ages to buy it, still have it 7 years later :D

had other cars inbetween i just leave it at my parents when i don't need it.

yeah, the clio had its charms. I enjoyed working it hard to get some pace out of it's wee 1.2 engine. It was like kart at times, a nice safe kart with air bags lol.

If I even considered driving my current car like I occasionally ragged the clio at uni, I'd be in a hedge or the cop shop lol
