Diet suggestions

Fruit doesn't cause insulin spikes if you eat it raw in natural form with the skin/pulp and everything.

Fruit JUICE will cause one though.

Ive lived a very healthy and un-indulgent life. But i put on heaps of weight when i moved from aussie to the uk (all those pies, fried foods and Sunday roasts!).

I went to the gym for 6 months every day doing proper running etc and it made me well toned, but weight loss didnt really happen. I was around 78kg after the indulgence. Not that you could tell....i mean i had a chubby face but aside that you wouldn’t know i was 78kg.

My husband wanted to shed a few kilos before our wedding, so he went on weight watchers (they do it all on line now). I went on it for sympathy and for support. I stuck to it (but didnt include the wine in my points calculations - there are some things that i just WONT do!) and no more than 2 months later id got down to around 68 kilos. Now im 62 and holding. And the only exercise i get is walking the dog or the occasional walk to work and back.

I thought i knew it all with eating healthy food. But i forgot about portion sizes. WW teaches you a great deal on healthy eating.

Its really great for people to notice it, and to be happy with the reflection in the mirror!

And i love how its online - very easy and very inconspicuous!

A diet isn't a short term thing, it's a way of life. Not just for weight loss.

Just eat well, keep away from refined carbs, keep carbs complex, lots of lean protein, some good fats (mono and poly unsaturated, though some sat fat is also actually ok), and you can have a little dairy. Everything in moderation, up the exercise, and eat 3 good meals a day and avoid snacking on refined processed crap like chocolate etc...

Dam I wish my body knew this. You are right that skin / pulp will slow it a bit, but most fruit still hits the bloodstream fairly fast. I'm not saying not to eat fruit but don't go crazy with it (like everything).

The only way to loss weight is to use more calories than you are eating. How you do that is up to you. Low carb seems to work 2 fold, you replace carbs with mostly protein which makes you feel full and without carbs your body doesn't get the insulin spike which causes a low after which makes you hungry again. In the end it is still about less calories, low carb maybe easier since you don't feel like you are going without.
