I'm trying to lose some weight for a medical at a clinical trials place. I've cut down on my meal sizes and i do a bit of light exercise, but i'm having trouble with always feeling hungry and the horrible 'acid mouth' that goes with it.

It making me cranky as hell and i need to fix some holes in the plaster that have "magically" appeared. I found simply eating something fixes it, but that sort of defeats the idea of the diet :(

Any ideas?

cheers

I find that dieting isn't about not eating... its about not eating junk food, and eating small regular meals. That way you don't get hungry, and you can help it by doing excerise (running or going to the gym etc)

Water...

Or revise your diet so as not to get hungry..Eat 5 or 6 small meals a day...Best way to diet by far.

When I am hungry and try to use water that all the wives tails say kills hunger pangs (complete tosh imo) it just sloshes about in there :(

I always find the best thing for hunger pangs is a great big pie.

dont get hungry, thats not good for you and is ineffecient at losing weight.

revise your diet imo

I you are constantly hungry your not getting enough food, doing this will make you body think there is lack of food supllies so when you do eat it will turn food into fat. to conserve the food, as other have mention eat little and often much better if you want to loose weight.

up to a point, fruit is full of sugar.
But its the good type of sugar, so its fine.
Morba was also right in saying "dont get hungry". Eat more often, but less at a time. Keeps the old metabolism high and you arent hungry all the time :)

My girlfriend has diabetes so has to eat a diet that releases glucose into the blood slowly. This has the other effect of stopping her feeling hungry as that sort of food is effectively digested slowly. Foods that do this are known as low GI

Have a look for foods with a low Glycaemic Index, that should sort out your hunger. Note: they aren't necessarily low in sugar or fat, but a low GI diet can help you lose weight. The extreme end of low GI is bascally the Atkins theory. Worth a read, it's interesting.

Eat a lot of celery, you lose weight from eating them :D

How long has this myth been floating around? It sounds like hogwash to me. How can a food that contains all sorts of glucose (note that celery does, in fact, taste sweet) possibly have negative caloric value? It's not like making the body sort out the fiber is going to have a net loss in energy for the system. The body just won't take any energy from that part of the stalk and move on to taking sugars from it.

Pish posh I say.
