My m8 is going to spend a bomb tmz up overclockers and was wondering about motherboards, which is currently the best to get his budget will be upto £160 mark and the cpu he will be putting in is a Q6600 go, would he also be better off with the new wolfdale cpu's his main use will be gaming.

I mentioned the P35 chipset to him with some supporting DD3 ram, any suggestions would be appreciated before tomorrow.

no point in DDR3 atm tbh...

If his gamming a wofdale is probably best but the Q6600 is still a very good CPU..

Board wise P35, I would go P5K-E just as good at clocking as the more expensive Asus boards (same PCB)... or x38 chipset and an Asus Maximus Formula

I will add he won't overclock it at all, so far he is getting a 8800GTS 512 meg, he already has some OCZ 4GB (2x2GB) PC2-6400C4 800MHz Reaper memory he basically getting a new rig, not even sure what is a good psu for him to get, he will build this to last him 2 years or so.

PSU wise a 520watt corsair will be plenty

If his not overclocking then really is down to the options he wants the board to have.. would have a read around some of the P35 chipset boards have had some issues with the wolfdale's.. i.e. you have to update the BIOS in a certain way or its RMA time.. the only point of buying a really expensive board is the overclocking scope it gives tbh or if you need certain features it offers
