dilemma, what should i do?

Hi guys,

Basically my contract expired this month and I had my heart set on getting a HTC diamond 2. The last few days i've been trying to upgrade my phone contract with carphone warehouse but everytime i got to a certain point it wouldn't go through on their system as they said the phone had not yet been setup for upgrades.

Anyway i got tired of waiting and thought i would cancel my contract with orange and just get a new contract with CPWH so i could get the phone.

I phoned orange and upon trying to disconnect they offered me a ridiculous contract

HTC Touch HD
1200 mins
Unlimited data (500mb)
Unlimited texts
33 Picture messages
Orange maps
18 month contract
Free phone
£20 per month

(they also offered me the pixon for the same price but with 2200 mins)

my current contract is £40 700 mins unlimited texts.

Upon hearing this I took it out (got 7 days where I can cancel)

Now just this second CPWH have phoned me saying they now have the phone I originally wanted on upgrade (diamond 2) but the contract will be similar to my old one.

What do you guys think i should do? stick with the great plan or go with the phone I want???

I feel so confused lol!
 
whoa I'd stick with the Touch HD then - that's a fantastic contract

mate at work has one and the screen is very impressive - only thing he doesnt like is the touch aspect of input (which is why I decided on the nokia E71 in the end)

If you keep the awesome orange contract then come next upgrade time they have to keep it the same or else you move on

Yeah the touch aspect scares me a little bit but change is good and all that!

LOL my Mrs and technical just don't go togehter.

I think i'm going to stick with it, if i don't like the HD i can just sell it and get some other phone i guess.

I'll post a little review when i get the phone if anyone is interested (i should have it tomorrow as it's been dispatched)
 
Stick with the contract
You could always buy the phone SIM free in a few months if you don't like the Touch HD. I think the contract is too good to turn down compared to your old contract
 
AMAZING deal there!! Even if you don't want the phone sell it and get a different one and use it on the contract like you say!! :D I'd love orange to give me a deal like that.

To get the best deal speak to disconnections, tell them you want to leave and they offer you a deal. Tell them ok i'll think about it and they will note the deal on screen. A few hours later ring through to retentions again and you will speak to a different person, just say the previous chap offered me this, can you better it as i'm not convinced...

do this a few times and you end up getting a decent deal.

It helped because supposedly i'm "band 5" (orange rate their customers 1-5)band 5 offers the the highest discounts. i know this because CPWH told me when i spoke to them a few times.
 
my god, i just renewed my contract wid orange to get:

HTC touch hd:
£100 phone
1200 min
unlim text
500mb data
Orange maps
24 month contract
£25 a month.


Why didn't i tell them i wanted to leave :'(
