I'e had no problems with it, picked up a fair few in their 5-day sale a couple months back and Vampire: The Masquerade recently, though I haven't downloaded the latter. The ones I did had no problems with download speed or anything, a little faffing about with key activaion but no real issues.

whats d2d's service like, is it on par with steam or bad like EA's downloader?

I dont think it's as good as Steam. Downloading through your web browser often the file would stop downloading randomly and couldn't be restarted. Using their download manager is fine but with either that or using the web browser the speeds are lower than steam's

Yeah, the actual download can be a bit hit and miss. I've always had decent customer service from them though, unlike EA.

Not really worth buying this if I own it on the PS3.

It's worse cause I don't know anyone with a high end gaming PC that likes RE :(
Wow you must have a very small group of PC high end gaming friends then  as its universally hailed as one of the best PC ports ever (and quite rightly so). It even runs better than the console version on a 5 years old PC with a 3 year old graphics card.

Maybe all his highend PC gaming friends have now changed to only console gaming like almost all my friends have :(

Baiscally this.

The few that did play games on their PC are mostly now stuck with a small selection of games, OR play consoles only.

It's a pain in the butt. It means that I don't really wanna get L4D or the like cause I have no one I know with to play with, which is a pain.

Mostly people I know are in to MMO's on their PC's, which I'm not playing at the moment. Everyone else has PS3 or 360's, either due to cost, or simply because of limited technical knowledge.

Direct2Drive is great. I prefer it over Steam because games just boot up without having to load the Steam client. Downloading speed is good and I find downloads complete as fast as Steam. And if you like your Steam overlay, you can always add the shortcut of the game to the client. In my opinion they're better than Steam because they have many DRM free games which can still be installed and played, whereas if Steam goes under you're screwed.

I always use a download client like Getright though for games bigger than 2gbs as downloading large files via your browser is asking for trouble.

EA are great. See here why.

RE5 is not a highend gaming title is it if I can run it on a 5 year old CPU (Intel P4) + 3 year old 8600GTS with max DX10 gfx and experience very smooth FPS & no slowdowns it shows you how undemanding it is because Capcom optimise the code in their proprietary MT Framework engine so it scales & runs across very old hardware! Its possible to run it on a 4 year old gfx card as well and it still looks better than the console version ;)

Well, since the people I know either have low end GPU laptops for their regular web surfing (in other words, don't game at ALL on PC's) OR, don't like these types of games....

People seriously try to pick in to every single comment...

With regards to L4D you can play with me (in a non dirty way) and the other OcUKers on here, the majority of them are great craic (except Steve!:p)

I got this when steam had it on offer and it surprised me how good it was. I wasn't expecting much after seeing videos and playing the demo but i throughly enjoyed it. It wasn't a patch on the older games or Resident Evil 4 but was still really good. The gfx looked really good cranked up to full.

Hopefully the next installment will be longer and have more content like RE4 did. Completed it in around 10 hours, which is far too short IMO. I'll probably play it again online though.
