We may be able to obtain proof of your No Claim Discount. If you do not want us to do this, please tick this box. [x]

Does anyone know why I'm given this option, and why I would want to accept/deny it? If I tick no do I have to send them proof myself? It's buried in all their statements so not very obvious.

Cheers.

a). So you don't have to do c), and b).
b). It's confidentiality data most likely which is why they have to get your permission, as no-one in their right mind would choose to send in proof when the company could do all the hard work for them? Unless I'm missing something.
c). Yes, unless you want no NCD.

Only reason I can think of is if you have multiple insurance policies expiring at around the same time (or one that just expired and one that expired a year ago) and you want to ensure that the correct NCD ends up on the correct policy.

I chose not to let them do it automatically and then put my 2 years NCB that was a year and a half old onto the cheapo Volvo and kept the 4 years NCB (that was currently on the Volvo's policy that was about to expire) on hold for two months then put it on the more expensive Nissan as this worked out to give me the best overall cost of insuring both cars.

Both policies were previously at other insurers and both NCBs were moved to Direct Line so I really had to make sure that the correct NCB hit the correct car (I also got another 10% off the Nissan since the Volvo was already with them, and 10% off both since we have Direct Line home insurance, and both policies also fell under the 12 months for the price of 10 thingie. I'm going to get shafted for insurance next year when most of those discounts wont apply :( )

Oh ok, I can see how doing something like that would make that box quite useful then.

I only have one car so it's much much less hassle for me I'm sure.. still more than I'd like mind :).
