Hi all

after a directx 11 gfx card with passive, I asked if ocuk where getting any and never responded as powercolour has had one out since November.

Has anyone got one or if ocuk will get them as I want a silent pc

Thanks

Just get a 5770 if its a single one they very quite and you can adjust the fan speed if you like...again even if its still loud you can buy a cooler for it be passive..

which card is the most silent with the fan ?

not going to buy extra heatsinks and take the fan of from the gfx card as i did that 4 years ago and made a balls of it and the gfx card lasted 2 months and buggerd up.

want no hassles

so is this card better than the asus version that they released with tehre own cooler ?

its just i want this for a htpc as well as some gaming not a lot and to use on windows 7

thanks

Depends what you mean by better they should be cooler and make less noise then asus which is what you wanted but you pay a bit more for it up to you to say if it worth it. :D

well its between

all the same card and have there own cooling system over the normal standard heatsink but was wanting to know which of the 3 above as the best cooling and most quiet for a htpc and gaming.

thanks

I've got the Asus 5770 with the egg cooler, it's surprisingly silent and very cool. Only gets to around 50 in games like MW2 maxed out with 4xFSAA. Personally i'd say just go for it and get one of these, you won't hear it and the performance is surprisingly great. If you've got a bit of money to burn a Vapor-X is even better, but seeing as these use such low wattage and run amazingly cool I reckon it's overkill.

I have the powercolor 5770 with egg heatsink/fan and i can't hear it at all, my low noise psu fan is all i can hear. Stock speed

Depending on what you want to use it for, you could wait for ATI to release the lower end cards based on the same architecture, they are not far off from what I've read.

However, the fact that you've stipulated DX11 suggests that it's for gaming, since it has no other real practical advantage that I can think of, indeed, it is even of little consequence for the aforementioned use.

I would buy the card you want, and then worry about making it quiet later, as 3rd party cooling options find their way onto the market.

If you're really serious about a silent PC, you might want to look into getting a proper watercooling setup put together.

what lower end cards ? i thought the 5770 was the lower end and what are the lower end card got passive?

the reason i want a silent card is becasue i use it for HTPC as well as a small amount of gaming.

the last card i had with a fan was the ati x600 hehehe remember them and it was a joke so loud i have a passive x700 in at the moment and building a whole new system using a i5 chip to play games and play 1080p mkvs
