Disabled car alarm - will it affect my insurance?

My car alarm is faulty and the garage have said that they may not be able to fix it.

If they disable it is it likely to affect my insurance premium?

Dont want to speak to the insurers yet until I know what the garage can do.

Its both - but the car is so old that it doesnt matter apparently!!
