DIY advice please: Laying Cat5 between rooms

I used trunking for a couple of reasons, the main one simply being that I have a great line on ridiculously cheap trunking more than anything, but for sure, if you only have one cable then simply using bridge nails ( The thin tiny ones - not the bulky buggers ) and laying the cable out unhidden is a great option, and then simply plopping some paint to hide it is a great idea.

With trunking however, should you need to replace the cable, you simply take the front of the trunking off, swap the cable and clip teh front back on... If you bridge and paint the cable, its not going to be a quick job to replace that cable.

This is a bit of a mute arguement because the cables last years and years.

But once you have trunking in place you can use this for other cables not just the ethernet... I have in sections of my house, as shown in the pictures used the trunking for Electric cable as well as the phone cable for example.

Nice setup FR, I am in total agreement with you about wired speed over wireless, atm I have cat5/6 cables all over the house to various rooms and was looking at ways to tidy them up so thanks for the pics // info.

am using some TP-link 200mbit powerline adapters (3 of them) atm to connect router - tv(xbox/sky hd+ box) and the pc together. getting a nice 140-160mbit having no issues streaming hd stuff over the network
