DIY Sanding Question

Hey all,

ive just done some surround sound wiring and having polyfilled the holes im looking to get a hand sander to get a good finish for painting. Ive tired just sandpaper and i cant get it to a decent standard. So what suggestions have you got for gritt of the paper and hardware to use

wrap the sandpaper around a block of wood. this will give you a good finish without spending money on a sander.

Wikes (sp?) do a rotary sander for £15, comes with a handful of different sandpapers too.

start with a medium gritt if you like and if you really want finish with a fine one to avoid marks....and do what the guy above said....wrap it in a block of wood you lazy swine

If you use something like an 80 grit to remove the bulk of the filler then I'd guess something like 240-320 would give a smooth finish.

Do it by hand. Coarse grit is good to get the bulk down then smooth off. You'll only ever make the mistake of using a power sander on a little bit of polyfiller once- it produces clouds and clouds of fine dust!

there crap and never work properly...easiest way is a block of wood and a hoover if you wanted...simple...the time spent pratting about buying one and things you could have sanded them with a block
