I have a Samsung SP50L7HX DLP, which I purchased in October. I noticed today that there is an imtermittant flickering on the screen. It's not consistant either, sometimes it flickers fast, sometimes slower. It doesn't appear right away, only after about ten minutes.

Surely the lamp isn't dying yet?!?

Sounds like something that should be replaced under warranty no problems, or is this not the case?

I called Samsung and they have arranged for a service engineer to come out within the next few days. Another thing I have noticed is that it is slightly dimmer when it's not flickering, as if I have turned the brightness down.

From what I can find these are all the signs of the lamp failing :(

Hopefully they will replace the lamp if that is the case, it should last longer than this.

I have found Samsung customer service to be excellent so you shouldn't have any issues with the warranty claim.

Sounds like the mercury arc lamp is having problems striking. You *might* be able to get it replaced under warranty.
