DMC-LX3 or DMC-FZ38?

I'm looking at getting a camera and from reviews i've read i'm torn between the LX3 and the FZ38.

From the looks of it to me, the FZ38 is slightly better then the LX3 but is also slightly bigger.

Anyone able to offer opinions on which to go for, or if there's anything better at the £250 mark?

The major difference in these cameras is zoom ability, the FZ38 is in the super zoom class, 27-486mm. Compared to the LX3 which is a wide angle, small zoom (60mm), low light specialist.

You have to decide what type of photography you like together with size limits and then choose a camera

The main difference is as said zoom, however the LX3 has a much larger image sensor resulting in better quality pics and low light performance, also its F2-F2.8 lens is amazing, LX3 all the way matey !

I've also been pointed to the Nikon CoolPix P6000. How does that compare?

Its generally known nikon are not so good with there compacts so I'd avoid.
