Do companies believe they are allowed to bend the rules?

I would say, complaining in the 3-6th month is a bit lame, less lame as you get closer to the 6th month, but morning sickness tends to early on in the pregnancy and, if you're having trouble eating, while your body is trying to grow a baby, you could end up feeling worse in those weeks than at any other stage of your pregnancy.

In reality slipping and falling is a fairly poor excuse because you can slip and fall anytime, obviously increased risk but meh. if she's suffering from bad morning sickness, well, get a doctors note, if not, then its not a great excuse.

Though to be honest, if buses are canceled theres a very good chance roads around her area are that bad, which means walking 5 miles, and potentially 5 miles back after a long shift finishing at midnight in easy sub zero temperatures isn't something most people would want to do, less so if you're a tired pregnant bird.

Could her boss be more understanding, sure, could she make more effort, sure, whose in the wrong, neither really.

How desparate is she for the money, she's having your kid(i assume its yours) and you'll eventually move in and bang a lot, she's working as a waitress, is £50 going to make a huge difference in the grand scale of things. Does holiday even matter if she's going to be taking a shedload of time off after having the kid, in 3-4 months she'll be quitting or taking months and months off so does it make a huge difference if she uses up her holiday now?

Taking the days your gf's not working off her holiday is fine - she's not working, but at least she's getting paid for it. Would you/she rather she didn't get paid for the shift?

Where do you live that the only place your girl friend can waitress treats their staff with such disdain? Find some where that doesn't have completely uncooperative management if you can.
