In the long run they are paid what they are worth otherwise the industry will implode.
Yea, good job that isn't happening. Imagine the top clubs like Man U and Chelski all being in debt up to the eyeballs and virtually all clubs having spiralling wage bills that cannot be met.
I personally think footballers are worth a good salary but not the likes of tens of thousands a week. Keep in mind that footballers only have a finite career as a pro, say 16 to 35, maybe 40 if you're particularly good. After that many just go on the scrap heap and have to either get regular jobs, live off their salary/pension or scrape the bottom of the barrel and swallow their pride to be a TV/radio pundit.
Agree - bankers mostly do deserve their bonuses. If you're willing to work 18 hour days, travel all over the world brokering multi-billion pound deals, with the risks involved, then yes I understand why they get paid - what incentive is there otherwise?
Off topic I know but IMO, until the state gets their house in order, they have no right (other than that of the banks they part own I guess) to tell banks they cannot pay big bonuses - it is counter productive and those staff will just up sticks and move elsewhere where these rewards are paid.
A banker getting a 1m bonus will probably be on a percentile bonus of say 1-5% of profits they generate for the company........ in the grand scheme of things that isn't much.
I am not in banking, although in finance so have seen first hand the work involved for a lot of these people....... rather them than me!
