do i need to change my harddrive?

Its working now its all being fully formatted the fact yu said it was a simple ram issue made me think hold on lets take a look, now i moved my ram took my gpu out and it looks like plain sailing now thanks zac :)

i hope you formatted it with ntfs and not fat32......

so you formatted and it works now?

Well its in the process at the moment but yea i did ntfs, just hope its not the gpu that was causing it which i really doubt, just glad nothing has to go back to OC :)

It booted from cd but this time instead of blue screen it actually got to the format part, so its either moving the ram or taking the gpu out that helped, thanks for everyones help.

Good, glad it helped, the old packerd bell imedia i rebuilt had the same problem, it turned out to be a damaged stick of ram that wasn't detected on boot.
i changed the ram over, the next thing i know xp booted properly first time.

im sorry if i came through as a bit of a D*CK when i gave you step by step instructions for installing xp, you just didn't come through sounding like you knew what you were doing :p

surprising what small things can do.
i hope you enjoy your new build :D
