do nvidia cards work in a crossfire motherboard?

Yep, a single card can be used on the mobo, regardless of SLi or Crossfire capability.

Two of the GTs would not work in SLi. You'd need a SLi mobo for that.

EDIT: What are you wanting to do with your mobo? What features do you require? You could probably spend a heck of a lot less than that and get similar functionality.

want..
8gb support
775
no onboard fans
sata2
gigabit onboard
overclockability

don't care about..
firewire

that first one looks like it fits the bill, and has plenty of sata connectors

so it's got 4xddr2 slots and 2xddr3? (or are they the same sized slot)

last wave of pc's i made were all ddr1, so i'm a bit behind on this sli/ddr2&3 business :)

i won't be using sli, i was more curious as to weather the cards would work, thanks for your help

now to find an e8400 (i reckon i'd benefit more on dual than quad, not that many apps use quad core yet) bang for buck, the 8400 suits me more

ahh, gotcha

i'll go for the ddr2 only option i think, you mind choosing a psu for me? :X

8gb ram, 8400, this motherboard, 8800gt, 2x raptor74gb drives, 2x80mm case fans, no other fans (watercooled with own psu for pump)

my case is a Coolermaster 110 ATS/C (whatever they're called), would like a modular psu if poss

how dangerous are these hiper type-r's then

i've got two (both in non-critical systems), have been running fine for well over a year

does anything in particular set them off?

-not much of a graphics card thread now, sorry.. easier to keep my eggs in one basket here :p

Hiper Type R's blow up and take people's systems out. It's only a matter of time with everyone. Forcing them to deliver extra watts increases their likelyhood to go bang.
