Do they still do Red Letter Days for Lambos, Ferraris?

Go straight to the track, much cheaper anyway.

I think it's Snetterton that do the Supercar Experience, my dad doesn't tend to work that day much but he used to and I'm sure it's Snett.

yeah my missus got me an experience day from buyagift for xmas... i'm yet to book it but i'm off to drive a porka 911, a ferrari 355 and a lotus exige around some part of silverstone. really must get around to that, if only it would stop bloody raining!

They're generally crap though in my experience. A lot of money for what is essentially a couple of 'warm' laps at best.

I suggest people look at the days that Prodrive/Subaru put on in Kenilworth. I did an afternoon there as part of the charity work the Richard Burns Foundation do, and it was amazing fun. There's a couple of skid pans, a high speed 'perimeter circuit' (think B road surfaces), a 4x4 bit and also an adverse handling track, which is basicly a rally tarmac stage. Unlike all these other places, about £250 gets you an entire days driving with very little sitting around.

^ There you have it. :)

I drove a 360 back in April at Donington. I couldn't get out of 3rd gear.

The rally ones tend to be better. I did one a couple of years ago and it was great.

My dad instructs at a lot of these circuits and he always recommends the rally one, he thinks it's much more fun and the punters seem to enjoy themselves more. The one at Brands is good, I've had a few rides up there years ago off him :)

ive done one at Elvington

Porsche, Ferrari, Lambo, Subaru Rally, RS4 etc

complete crap, drive in a straight line for half a mile and turn round.

waste of money

I had a "Ferrari Thrill" at Prestwold Hall I think it was called.

Pants. Got driven round in an Impreza to show us the amazingly complex track :/

Then stood around in the cold for 40 minutes and finally a LHD 355 came in and "your turn" so in i get and it's a manual, fair enough, but bloke says "we'll be leaving it in 4th or 5th".

Pants.
Out lap, up to 4th gear, sit in 4th, slow corners agonisingly slow. 2 laps, 3rd in, Bosh.

To summise, i'd have rather taken my own car around, more fun as I let myself change gear generally!

My other half bought me a voucher to use up on one of these things, choices were 911, 355, Rally or Single Seater.

911 and 355 brochures said "experiance lasts 2-3 hours" and you only drove a couple of laps in a couple of cars.

The Rally and the Single Seater both said it was a day long thing so it was between those two (wanted to get her monies worth :) ). Decided on the single seater and it was awesome.

Impreza STi, Formula Ford, Formula Vauxhall Lotus (omg this was quick), Caterham and a Focus RS.

The instructors were really good, for the non single seater cars they really did push you to get the car round as quick as possible. I remember the Impreza instructor showing us how to take the hairpin at Mallory Park, so much fun :) And the Caterham chap was a reasonably old bloke who was really good, they were definitely pushing me more than I'd have been on my own if that makes sense. But as they were the experts I knew if they were telling me to floor it/turn harder they knew best :)

For the single seaters they recommended what gears for what part of the track in the briefing and tbh you wouldn't have wanted to do it any differently. Definitely want to do more single seater stuff.

I also remember one place where you could pay to have 1 to 1 tuition for about 2 hours in either an RX8/MX5/Elise, think you got about 15 flying/driving laps in total for that plus passenger rides.

Got an Aston Martin Experience booked with Driver's Dream Days over the weekend so I'll let you know how it goes!

Just got back from this - went to their Leicestershire site

Have to say that I really enjoyed it - it was a lot of fun!

My instructor was superb and he was egging me on to drive harder whilst giving me plenty of advice. The sound of the AM DB9 V12 at full chat with the top down is something else!

Funnily enough, my Uncle's brother in law works for Red Letter days. I think I can get aout a 30% discount from him. Pretty good business idea tbh as he told me that almost half the vouchers go unused, at no cost to the company. How that woman (forget her name) managed to go bust, is beyond me. Dragon my arse!
