Do you care how your card looks?

I bought my 4890 Vapor-X partly because it matches my UD5 motherboard and Patriot Viper RAM. The whole inside has a blue / silver theme and the lighted logo on the Vapor-X also is blue. It looks nice inside my silver windowed fortress case, but TBH it sits underneath the desk so their wasn't much point :)

Still it goes to show that looking good isn't mutually exclusive with fast & quiet (although the 4890 probably wants upgrading)

I like pretty stuff, but not enough to sway my choice of purchase. Which is why I have a blue Gigabyte motherboard, red ram and red graphics card PCB. :P

When it comes to graphics cards I will buy anything that does not have a sexy lady on it. I'm not sure why they do that. Asus are always nice as they are plain except for the Asus logo.

How it performs and how quiet it is are the only things I'm really bothered about tbh. It's hard to imagine any internal component actually looking "good". Someone mentioned cable management - I've done that but not so it looks good, purely to improve airflow (and as a by-product makes access to components easier). The fact that it doesn't look as messy as it did is neither here nor there as far as I'm concerned.

Each to their own though and I have no issue with people who chose between similar performing components based on their subjective looks :)

I've spent a fortune on my pc and I want it to look good.

I picked a case with a side window to show off the lovely blue fans and pink UV tubes. And why not.

As for the gfx card, well you can only see the edge of the 5870 which is just a black box. It should be much more interesting!

^^ Yeah some GFX cards just look very boring but the 480 and its meaty heat pipes looks better than most, one of the reasons I'm sticking with it over the rather plain looking 580 lol.

I don't have a sidewindow, but i'll admit - I want one. I'll have to find one of the few that are for the CM690 ( not re-casing ), or make my own.

How come though, manufacturers go to lengths to make the cards they make look good, if you google images " graphics cards " you'll find some stunners.

Why is it though, that the other side is normally fairly boring, a plan green chip.
When I look through the side window of my case, this is what I see:
( or something similar )
No hotlinking!

Is there a way to make these look good? I'm saving for a 69xx when they come out, and i'll be buying a side window.

I'm sure someone ( or a lot of people ) will say, uh.. why do you care?
Well, because like a lot of people on this forum I have spent a fortune on my PC, I work with it every day, it's on my desk next to me... I want it to look good, that's why we buy good cases ( aswel as airflow etc of course ).

Maybe they could come with some kind of top side aswel?
Just an idea, wanting to see peoples reactions / thoughts? maybe this exists already?

No, I think the designs on most of the cards look tacky or aimed at kids. I like it being pretty plain. I do have a Haf 932 with red leds that make trhe whole case glow though so im pretty sweet with mine

I'm the same, I would worry more about getting a 1C reduction in temperatures then how it actually looks.

I will also go as far as saying I hate LED's in computers, even though I have no window I disabled the ones on my motherboard, they will only go back on if I have to use them for diagnostic purposes.

If you get my case, the graphics card is the right way up and above the CPU heatsink. Lian Li have done this by inverting the motherboard and also having the right side of the case open rather than the left. Seems screwy at first but I have grown to like it. PC-V1000 plus.

I will be honest and say when I choose a model of card, the look does sway my desision,
although I can't understand why they put all the pretty bits on the side that faces down :/

This for me tbh, i like the look of the heat pipes that are visible on my two Gainword Golden Sample HD4850's, though it is as though they are upside down, most cards look good from the underneath but a mess of a circuit board from the top? yes i have a window, yes i have my PC where i can see it, and yes, i have even had my case professionally custom painted, maybe i need help?

Edit: Just read the post above, maybe i just need that case, lol.

i care about how it looks. I just like to show people "i built that not some crappy company". Im proud of my work no matter what i do. Everything i build/make always has to look good even if you dont see the insides.
