Ive owned a car since October last year, and since then ive never had a kid in the car. Last night i picked my uncle, auntie and their 3 year old son up from the airport, and ive never driven so carefully in my life. I didnt try to drive more carefully, it was as if it was a natural reaction

Anyone else like this?

I drive more carefully with ANYONE in the car (exceptions include people whom I know don't mind me driving quickly/spritedly). I see no reason to put them in a more stressful situation tbh.

Yeah, i definately drive a lot more cautiously with any of my friends in the car. Or anyone for that matter!

Same here. If it's just me I drive the way I like, if my girlfriend is in the car I driv much more sensibly, but not as sensibly as if any of my family or friends or family/friends kids are in the car.

I try not to put passengers in any risk when I drive, my girlfriend doesn't mind me driving faster than if my mates are in the car, so I do, but still sensibly.

I hate it when I'm driving around and I get overtaken by people with kids in the car. I was doing 60 in a 60 section the other day and so an old couple in their volvo with two kids in the back almost shoved me and the missus off the road by overtaking and pulling in sharpish. I don't mind others endangering themselves or me, but when kids are involved I really get irritated, incase something happens.
Another example, driving through a town in a 30 limit, again, at the limit, so 30, and some idiot then overtakesme in his people carrier with kids in it, really not on.

I haven't driven with a kid in the car in ages, but whenever I do I drive like a saint/granny.

i drive reasonably sensible with anyone in the car.... there are a couple of odd exceptions though who accept the risk when they get in my car and vice versa.

Theres driving in the car when I'm on my own.

And driving in the car when I've got anyone else in the car - even my sisters dog.

I normally drive nice and safely with others in the car but I got told off 3 times by my girlfriend yesterday for repeated sideways shenanigans, oops.

I got told off twice yesterday but in my defence I really didn't mean to go sideways it's just it was REALLY wet.

Why do people drive more carefully with kids/passengers in their car? Do you take more of a risk because you care less for your own safety over that of your passengers when they are in the car?

It's not fair to risk other peoples life.
