Over the years I have always found PC Gaming quite a 'lonely' hobby / activity. All my friends have consoles, none of them use the PC as their 'main' platform, a couple have mid range PC's and a couple of games, but every new release they buy is always on console.

Ive tried to pursuade them over to the PC with its nice hi res graphics and oppurtunities of modding etc, but its never worked and they stick with the consoles.

Personally I cant play most games I like - 99% FPS games - on console as I prefer the control of a keyboard and mouse. So, whilst I can share my game playing with friends with multi platform games, I cant actually play with them. (that sounds weird, but you get my drift.)

I play online games a lot where you play with/against other people but its not the same as a bit of split screen or LAN gaming with mates.

Anyone else in the same boat? Or is it just me?....sniff.....sob..... ;)

Ive always played games as an individual, never in a team.

I find if i talk/joke with mates when playing pc games I suck. :P

I dont mind it, but I get what you mean, a few of my mates play pc games but I still normally play on my own, just personal preference.

Yes but that is how I like it. I am a single player gamer and rarely play online let alone LAN.

I do miss the old ps2 days when I lived with mates and we would have long pro evolution sessions with mates every other day.

I'm in a clan for PC gaming, have had a few meets to so we have actually met each other. None of my everyday friends play PC though but I don't really mind. I have a console & can play games online against them if I like but I too hate fps games with a controller so I chose not to.

Thats the thing though, even with my friends from college/uni days they all play on console, same for work mates, most of them have 360's.

Easier said than done mate.

None of my mates have ever been into gaming. A couple own a 360 and at the most buy a couple of games a year. One of them doesn't even venture on LIVE.

I think he meant find people that you don't know who are into the same games as you online.

Solitary yes, lonely no. Gaming for me is at its heart something I do by myself, when I'm with other people I tend to do other things.

That's not to say I don't enjoy social gaming (LAN party etc) but for me the idea of playing on platform (or even game) X just because a bunch of people I know are doesn't really come into it. Skyrim would be a good example, a few people at work were playing that when it came out, talking about it etc but I didn't feel like I was missing out that much by not playing it.

Kind of, but i have mates ive met online i talk to, plus i only play online games really. Unless i find a good single player game to immerse myself in. i used to be a console gamer back in the day to, now i can only play sports titles on console, the thought of any other games especially fps with a controller now is just horrible. But its weird im sure if i just played console id get used to the controller again and itd be fine as i used to aim etc pretty well with a controller back in the day and watching some streams people are able to play well with a controller!

But irl mates wise, they are on console yea and willl always argue the case that pc gaming is worse etc .

A little bit, especially before university. But when I joined university I found some guys that were into gaming on the PC, so almost daily we talk on Steam and play some games together. I love singleplayer games as well, and that makes no difference playing it by myself.

everybody i know who plays games play on consoles.

their complete noobs though and have never heard of pc gaming.

i tell them i play using mouse and keyboard and the look on their face is what id imagine my nans expression would be if i told her i found her attractive.

In the old days of WoW burning crusade I used to be on vent with my guild everyday, we'd play that and css, but times passed and I don't do it anymore but I miss it. I have some friends on steam etc but don't actually talk on voip or play games together, so I would say yes to both its solitary/lonely.

I was in a clan on the 360 and loved it but got bored of the games and went back to PC, shame none of them game on PC had some right laughs in gears / cod /halo etc
