edit: For people that HAVE a Dad and a Grandad

I do. And I remember reading about certain genes skipping generations, or some such idea...

I am a strongly patriotic person, proud of my country's culture, language & music, etc. My father loves all these things too but he doesn't have the same deep-rooted passion like my Granda does. I look up to my Granda in many ways, more so than my father.

My father is a lot like me in character, manner, humour, ideals, etc. But I find that there are certain passions that I and my grandfather share exclusively.

What about you guys? Do you believe that certain genes skip generation? Have you certain things on you that are more in common with yer Granda than Da?

Apparantley i look quite similar to what my Grandad did when he was younger, but as i've never known him, i can't really comment.

Im split really, recently ive been getting on better with my Granda than with my Dad. My dad enjoys throwing sarcy little comments my way and seems very tempormental with me at the minute, so dont chat with him a lot, but we do get on when we are out etc.

Ive NEVER been in any argument with my grandparents ever in my life and i get on with them brilliantly, infact i couldnt ask for more. I dont see them a lot now, about once a week.

In the way of interests im half and half, my grandas into modelling and cars etc (not as much now) and my dads a DJ so hes into his music, so we get on in different areas if you see what i mean.

Im kind of like my dad in the way that i have a pretty short fuse at times, if he has a dig at me ill happly retalliate and if a full scale war starts, then so be it as im about as arrogant as him, but im liek my granda as i enjoy some of the passtimes he does. Used to play the keyboard laods down his as thats his love (he spends more on a keyboard than a car) but not as much now as i dont get down a lot.

I am 100% my dad, it's scary! I have a lot of his bad things and not enough of his good things, unfortunately, I am like a mix of all bad things of my folks :(

:D

definatly a lot more in common with my grandad, we could sit and chat for hours.

sadly he passed away just before xmas, he will always be sorely missed and have a place in my heart. :(

In terms of looks i am the spitting image of my dad :)

In terms of interests I get along with both, my dad is a bit of a tech geek, always wants the latest technology in the house so I am with him on that one.

My grandad on the other hand is very handy, he can fix almost anything we have ever had a problem with, from motorbikes, to cars, to central heating, you name it, he's fixed it for us. I remember once our heating was making a loud hissing noise all the time it was on, british gas came out, couldnt sort it, a boiler man came, the same, my grandad came and flushed out the system and 9 years later its still quiet. This may sound daft but when he goes I will be mortified, I wont know how i will carry on without him :( He is 68 so there is a good 15 yeras left in him hopefully, I plan to make the most of my time with all my grandparents the best I possibly can :)

Nope, I am the spitting image of my dad, so much so that a few months after he died I went to visit my gran (mums mum) in a nursing home and she thought she was seeing a ghost. :D

My Grandad seems to understand modern fashion much more than my Dad which is quite suprising. I dunno why that is either!

Granda? Da? Sorry but i know your 'D' key is working on the keyboard, strange never heard/seen anyone refer to their dad as 'Da' or grandad as 'Granda' Or is this some sort of dialect coming through? Or is it a typo?!

But on that note, i dont really share much interest with my dad, it'd probably be safe to say that i shared a lot with my grandad.

I went to India to see my grandmother just before she died... Was amazed to see that I look almost exactly like my grandfather (who I had never met)...

Granda? Da?

It's an Irish colloquialism.

I get on well with both my dad and grandad - probably my dad more though. My grandad has more hair than I do as well. :/ I probably share an immature sense of humour more with my grandad than my dad though - he loves getting drunk at Christmas and acting the fool for the family, which is no doubt what I'll be doing at his age!

Both my granddads are dead, but from what I remember my dad was just like his dad, same temperment and everything. So, gladly I don't take after them.

I suppose I would have more in common with my mother's father but even so it would be a bit of a stretch to say so.

Me my Dad and my Grandad all got on brilliantly. We were all very alike, united by our love of aircraft really as my Grandad was in the RAF during WWII. I was pretty upset to see him leave this world due to prostate cancer, and only 3 weeks before my wedding too.

The good thing being that I only have fond memories because he really spent some quality time with me whilst I was young. Even as I got older he respected that I might not want to talk to him too much because he wasn't really my priority / wasn't "cool" enough etc - which was just silly, I spoke to him every week practically :) The bad thing being that my Grandparents lived around 90miles away.

Although my Dad is more stubborn, and I'm like him in that respect more than my Grandad, he was pretty laid back I think.

I dont want to be like my dad, but as I'm getting older I see him more and more in the things I do. It is not a good thing :(
