I am feeling sad, ocuk sold me a oem 2500k so my processor box is a little piddly plain white thing. I want one of those nice big blue boxes with Intel core i5 written on it.
Anything that tends to be valuable that I either might sell or ever need repairing I keep the boxes for these days. Albeit I keep them round my parents house as they have far more storage space.
I'm sure I heard somewhere that having boxes can also be quite handy if you ever need to make insurance claims.
I stack them in the attic in case of returns, and have an occasional clear out.
Of course the big boxes that the boxes come in get turned into small houses for the children, are left in the garden and go soggy in the rain, I then endure a day of tears and tantrums when I throw them in the recycling. Parenting, joy.
Keep most boxes, sold a 5 year old laptop recently and was able to sell it with all original packaging and documentation, and also sold a 3 year old 37" HDTV which I was able to pack in the original box with the original polystyrene and coverings.
I have an awful habit of keeping a lot of boxes some I end up using for storage, others just sit somewhere in the house empty...but I cant bring myself to through them away too often lol
depends what came in the box, I do have a collection of boxes from building my pc, just in case I ever need them if I plan on selling any parts etc. Most of them be stored in the attic
never kept a box, sometimes regret it but I can't stand them hanging around taking up needless space to placate an ocd and some potential increase in resale value
I keep boxes for most things up to a point. Usually when im looking for something amongst all the boxes and I think "Why the hell have i got so many useless boxes? I dont even have this coffee machine anymore!" Then they all go in the recycling and the cycle repeats itself.
Any electrical item worth over £100 that I am likely to sell on to upgrade in the future has its box kept, so pretty much all pc components, cameras, games consoles, etc.
I live in a flat so don't have much storage available, especially where it can be out of the way. Currently have my new tv box and my monitor box on top of my wardrobes in my bedroom and a host of other boxes flat packed on top of my washing machine. They are starting to do my head in though, so will probably get rid of them this weekend. A loft would be great
