Do you lie to your other half about the price when you buy stuff?

This was propted by a conversation we just had in the office.
One of my mates was looking at buying a TomTom 510 when one of the girls in the office piped up and said to get a TomTom One as they are "only £110".
We of course deputed this, but she insisted that her husband had told her it was £110.

She called her husband on the phone and asked him. This is what we heared:

"Hiya, what TomTom have we got?"
"A One, OK. How much did it cost?"
"YOU LIED TO ME. YOU SAID IT WAS £110".

We all laughed a lot as we have all used the "It was £20 dear" trick when the missus notices the £100 wireless mouse and keyboard on our desks etc.

So. Do you do this?

Just tell her she didnt ask how much the expensive shoes you got her were, so she shouldnt ask how much the gift to your self was, or you might keep the response in mind when you are looking for her next present ;)

Should work :)

she knows about every penny i spend so can't get away with it :/

this is good for me tho as she has helped me get out of debt :)

Yes, all the time. I wouldnt be able to buy anything otherwise.

Apparantly the wireless network adaptor and pad that I bought for my 360 last week only cost £25 - bargain! :D

I am only 18, but never done anything like this yet, or as far as i can remember. I probaly wont have to, we are pretty level headed and share all our thoughts.

Thankfully I've never had to. Don't see the point in that myself, if you can lie about how much a componet was, and get away with it, what else would you lie about given the chance ?

Not ever, ever once.
although, thinking about it..

My D70 cost me £450 as far as she knew
My Korg Triton Studio was £800 as far as she knew
My R/C car i purchased at the weekend was £99.00, the shopkeeper EVEN put a price sticker on it for me ;)

Dont matter though, mostly whats hers is hers, and whats mine is hers as well. She does not mind me having toys, as she has what she wants, and I like my toys too much.

Thank goodness my missus hates PCs and does not read forums :D

I seem to have a "the bigger the box" thing going on here.

My wifes generlly not interested in what I buy, but a big box that may contain something worth only a few quid always prompts more attention than a small box containing say a CPU worth a few hundred :)

All the time!!!... :D Well only if it was relativly expensive... otherwise I'm pretty Honest!!.. :D

I'm lucky the missus is relativly computer 'illiterate' and has no interest in anything electronics based!... So she won't be on here for a start!! :p

No need to :)

I'm fully aware of what gagdets cost and not bothered and I even tell him the truth when a visit to the hairdressers costs us £140 :o

We both know that some things will cost a chunk of money and both of us are sensible enough not to blow money on silly things ( well him more than me if I'm honest ... I do give in to temptation sometimes but not very often )

I don't see the point in fibbing on how much these things costs - especially when you are both living together and both paying bills etc

That was the main thing for me - as long as the bills got paid and we went out once in a while I didn't care :)
