Do you like living in Britain?

Always lived in england and only been abroad on holiday twice. Once to turkey Dint like it and once to Kavos for honeymoon so iv not really sampled much of the world. But if i was mega rich id love to live in New Zealand.

... i would happily go elsewhere if it was possible.

Just such a shame, Europe doesn't speak English. I'm pretty sure I could find the life I dream about. But it's taken my entire life to learn English badly. Let alone a foreign language good enough to do a job.

Yea, thats a uniquely British problem that. Everyone else has a never ending supply of really intelligent people.

We are very over populated, so yeah it's more unique to us then most other places people would want to live.

I don't particularly like it here, but I don't really know if I'd like anywhere else more - maybe I'll go to Australia one of these days... I liked Germany a lot when I visited, but obviously the language is a bit of a barrier, and liking places when you visit for a week is different to liking places when you live there for 5 years.

I lived in Whistler, Canada for a year and it was honestly the best year of my life. Obviously it's slightly disconnected from reality, as it is a ski resort, but everything about it was great. I had an awesome job, which I actually enjoyed getting up early for, I got to ride loads (123 days during the season) and earnt enough to pay rent/bills and still enjoy myself. Getting up every day and seeing that kind of scenery is something you don't take for granted. Plus in between snow seasons you've got the bike park to keep you busy.

And hey, if you got bored Vancouver was only 1.5 hours drive away. Definitely going back.

i like living here, its home, if you had a lot of money, the uk is a great place to live.. nothing is stopping anyone from going on holiday..

its when you have no money and live somewhere nasty, people think they should get out of the uk.. move somewhere nice, have a little money and its all good..

Because the USA doesn't have any idiots, right?

Do you live in a box? i'm pretty sure all types of populations have idiots... no one has said differently. So i'm unsure of what point you are trying to make if any...

+1 for Germany, it's such a nice country. I've been a few times through visiting my uncle and through work. I've been to Geldern, Dusseldorf, Koln, and Haan. The first and last being towns near Dusseldorf. Everything seems to be done properly, but like you I couldn't live there due to the language barrier.

The lack of lebensraum in Britain is the biggest issue I have with it. You can be earning a well-above-average salary here and still only be able to afford an average house with very little land / garden, even in a far flung rural location.

So true,

If I was in the same place on the earnings ladder 25 years ago I'd have a nice 4 bedroom house :(

I do like living here, there are things that annoy me, but its home and nothing will change that.
however i've always wanted to try living elsewhere and if the oppertunity ever rises i wont hesitate, but as i say thats not out of dislike for this country but for the experience, change, adventure.

My uncle learned German, got a job there, met a German woman, had a kid there etc.

I could learn, but that takes time and effort, and I can't stand learning languages. It's not impossible but it's not like you could just get up and go as with English speaking countries.

If someone really wanted to live there they should have the motivation to learn the language. Learning a language can be one of the most rewarding experiences, especially when you start speaking to said foreign people.
