do you like the idea of GMO?

some whacko plants gm seeds next to a guy who wants to be organic and its goodbye organic crops. then monsanto files a lawsuit against the organic farmer because he has gmo in his fields.

Do you have a credible link I could read where GM crops were not planted on the land and Monsanto sued?

I like the idea of GM food. I have some issues with the bussiness ethics side of some of the corporations like Monsanto but that wont stop me buying Gm food in general. In fact I probably would have a preference for GM food over no-GM.

Lots of companies have major ethical issues. people still buy Apply products and loads of other electronics items with questions work environments.
Nestle have done some horrible things in the past but people still buy nespresso and chocolate products etc.

watch the Documentary "Food Inc." the farmers are interviewed and theres videos of them in court getting interigated by monsanto lawyers.

I've seen it already.

what idea do you like? do you like the idea of a monopoly over food or the idea that its to be tested on the world without fully knowing the outcome. can you expand a little?

What's to test?

As for the monopoly, if you don't like it, don't use their seeds.

Monsanto’s technology agreement affords it substantial protections
by holding farmers liable for its own uncontrollable technology.

This suspect promise is used by Monsanto to alleviate
farmers’ fears associated with the company’s technology. Nevertheless,
cases involving the unintended presence of Monsanto’s patented traits in
plants have yet to end in a farmer’s favor.
Given the insistent nature of Monsanto’s legal pursuits, it is not surprising
that farmers have been sued for unknowingly possessing or selling
the company’s patented technology.

I despair of GD sometimes lol. Monsanto by far the biggest player in the GM foods will NOT allow GM food to be served in their staff canteens. Does that not ring alarm bells or raise even the slightest suspiscion in your mind?

In one of the videos a doctor with no vested interest says he has never seen humans in so much pain. He says the pain was caused by eating GM food.

There are very credible doctors and sceintists in the videos warning about the dangers of GM food.

Edit I suppose one of the next replies will be how did the doctor know the GM food caused the pain.

Same. Most of the scaremongering I've read comes from either those with something to lose if GM use becomes widespread, or area-51 nutjobs who think the government will inject the food with substances to enable them to control us.

your welcome to try anything you like mate your free to do so, get the gmo doon ye i dont care.

i have something to lose and thats the same freedom & right to be able to choose.

get a clue you baffoooon!

How did he determine that?

Sorry I watched the video a long time ago and forget how he knows it was the GM food that caused the pain.

I can honestly say the videos about GM foods are not tin hat material. They contain contributions from doctors, scientists, people involved in the GM industry, etc.

I don't like the idea as it's being steam-rollered through mostly untested and without knowing the long term consequences.

A lot of the GMOs are simply designed to be resistant to herbicides/chemicals sprayed on the land. This allows farmers to spray the countryside with chemicals without forethought to the surrounding wildlife and biodiversity in the area as their crops are immune - potentially bringing it's own problems that need addressing with yet more chemicals.

GMOs themselves could well be harmless, but the indirect action of the farmer to utilise the modification and cover the land in these chemicals can cause huge long term damage. We've seen too well how the pesticides/herbicides etc of the past have been proven to be extremely damaging to human health and the environment, and as such we should be looking at ways of reducing our reliance on them, not looking for more uses.

Sounds great in theory, but I'm still to be convinced the GMO system is as harmless as we're told.

So people got sued for miss-using the licensed product, selling it on etc. Microsoft do the same, so what?

I've yet to see any evidence of a GM spreading over (naturally) into other farms whereby those farms have been sued.

This is simply not true. That story started in 1999 from a single UK Monsanto canteen.

There are scientists/engineers that say climate change isn't happening, and 9/11 was an inside job, but they are a very small minority, as the other engineers and scientists have actually looked at the overwhelming evidence.

people would rather wait until the bbc news anchor with the big jugs tells them.

I have little worry about the health aspects but I do have a great deal of worry about the leveraging of intellectual property and market manipulation.
