man this thread is top quality entertainment, we've got tom and the other guy intent on simply insulting eachother, mav giving us expert opinion on theoretical performance of GPUs, tell me can you explain (without reading anything online) how a GPU works, whats involved and how these theoretical numbers effect real-world numbers, conroe is a PERFECT example of how theoretical numbers are total ********, a C2D will do super-pi 1M in half the time it takes my X2, but its NOT twice as fast doing anything else, not even by a longshot, so it just goes to show don't always rely on synthetic numbers and theoreticals to judge how something performs, R600 is technically more complex than G80, its very unfamiliar territory for ATI, even with there xenos processor, also there problems with getting the card suitable for launch as hardware has proberbly halted the software aspects of the task, they will fix the AA problems i don't doubt, but hey you gotta wonder how does something with so much 'potential' power come out and turn out so slowly, its gotta be dodgy drivers at the end of the day, i mean 320 streams 16 ROPs, higher clock speed vs. 96 streams 20 ROPs and lower clock speed, how on earth is the 2900 slower?
