Who still does it? I'm 24 and it's something I'm really starting to miss at the moment, and come renewal next month, I think I'm going to stick one of my cars with someone that offers it specifically for this purpose - assuming it isn't hugely more expensive.

Thanks, I hadn't thought to go speak to my broker after they refused to meet their price match promise for me last year. :/

May be worth a try with the 1.6 Focus as I think it was the fast cars and my partner's age they weren't keen on.

Didn't they go bust/into administration? (Website appears to be happy looking, but I'm not sure!)

They did for about a month, however policies continued running. They then returned, after realising how bad their business model was and bumped up all their prices.

They also removed DOC cover for under 25s. Having DOC at 17 was great :(

I would be interested in DOC cover on an insurance policy. Would it cover me driving my girlfriends parents XF?!

Why would you want to drive an expensive car on third party only, like most people i thought doc was great till i got it. Good for moving cars around if desperate but thats about it.

Yes and if anything did happen to it, awkward would be an understatement... Besides I would never dream of thrashing it like I have an XF before, but that was during a period of being a disgruntled over-worked, under paid employee of a car firm.

I'll stick to my ford focus of questionable reliability!

Was very handy for me. Meant I could drive either of my parents cars if I needed to. Was also handy when I needed to drive my girlfriend's car. it's just very convenient.

Not really imho, any car i would want to drive i would not touch without proper insurance.

Drove a few mates 500quid bangers back from the pub and thats about it, not going to go anywhere near 20k of metal

I wasnt suggesting jumping into a super car with DOC cover. It's just handy when you may want to borrow someone's car for the day and you dont have to worry about insurance. Which I did regularly, seeing as dad's Picasso made for a very practical car for a trip to Ikea, or some such.
