You are 'supposed' to pass people on the left - so you are free to shake hands with someone (or draw your sword) with your right hand. Goes back to horse days.
 
I'm not alone then! Woo! What are people's stances with crowds in town? Do you take the bulldozer approach? Play chicken with people? Dodge certain types of people?
 
i never knew there a safe or unsafe side. if a car is going to hit you on the pavement you are ***** either way.

do you also lay your jacket over a puddle so women dont get their feet wet?

I just keep on walking. It’s great fun to see them bounce off and wince especially when you are carrying two heavy bags. But I don't do it to old people, pregnant women or children. I also help women with big boobies across puddles and push chavs into the gutter.
 
lol at this. Not something I think about, but if there is a parent with a young child or a pram I try to walk on the outside and even go into the road if there is no other way. If it's just some guy or a group of people I don't even think about it and just walk wherever seems most straightforward/least hassle.

I'm generally a polite sort of person, and do more than just consider myself.

Yes I do this, but not to the extent of checking the ring finger lol, thats a bit too OTT.

I treat pavements like roads, checking where I am going, looking over my shoulder if I want to go in to a shop or something because the amount of people I see who just stop in the middle of the pavement to have a conversation or just walk out of a shop without thinking and just barging in to somebody who was walking on the pavement already. No I don't "indicate", I just try and stay aware of what I am doing and what other's are doing.

People are so ignorant to what is going on around them most of the time.
 
Uh, no. I walk where there's space.

People over here walk all over the place, often (daily) a group will take up the whole pavement, often said groups will completely ignore whats around them.

You can stop walking, stand still and let them pretty much walk into you before they realise and act in shock/horror that you'd do such a thing, because they're too special to move out of the way right? I'm pretty sure if you held your hand out in a fist they'd plant their face into it. (They are honestly that unaware, they just walk blindly)

Also you get a lot of women with prams that will seem to converge with other women with prams and just pick the most horrible place to stop and gossip.

Most people don't even give the honest curtousy of looking behind them before they rapidly change direction and walk into other people.
 
Also related, when in a square or something similar without a busy roas and someone comes towards you, do you move out of the way or let the other person move?

I used to move but now wait to see if the other person makes an effort to avoid contact and if they don't do it keep walking and usually that ends with my shoulder hitting their face as I am 6'6"
