By the fact that there are people out there who have a good standard of living, yet choose not to work? That there are queues outside a pub at 8am on a Monday morning by long term unemployed? That someone who contributes nothing to society throughout their entire life can still pop out 6 children, all who continue in the same vain as their parents? That someone who has never paid taxes nor worked a day in their life will place a burden on the NHS by drinking excessively, smoking excessively and eating fast food for every meal? That I came into work, and there were two junkies shooting up in the doorway? That the police have become so politically correct they will walk past a load of chavs/neds in the street who are shouting and swearing?

What can we do about the way society is going?

Your thoughts please :)

This is something that always gets my back up, tbh.

Best soulution would be to stop unemployment benefit after say 2 months.

You don't need longer than that to find a job, if it was me after a month i'd take anything!

I probably would, if I wasn't extraordinarily laid-back.

Sure, there's a lot of things wrong with the system but there's a lot right with it too.

One thing you need to bear in mind is; these wasters(or at least the vast majority of them) do not have an easy, or good, life. Don't think they enjoy living on the breadline, with little or no chance of improvement, relying on handouts to get by.

If I cared what these people do, and wanted to meddle in their lives or try and improve society, I'd get into politics.

ye i hate the scum of this earth (thats those people you discribed in OP) Its not that we shouldnt help unemployed or the less fortunate, but there should be a limit to the leeching *******. Maby a cull is in order? (maby thats a bit much but you get the idea)

i get more annoyed at people with a holier than thou attitude.

So, my attitude is holier than thou is it?

Care to elaborate?

I just find it annoying that I work 45-50 hours a wee, pay taxes, try and do my bit for the environment etc, when some people abuse the system for everything they can take it for.

It doesn't annoy me that people do abuse the system, i.e. choose not to work. It annoys me that people CAN do this.

This is life - Things wont be fair in all circumstances. We just learn to live with it and do what we can.

But that is the thing - the Government are so utterly inept, that they don't care that vast sums of money are being thrown at, for want of a better word, utter scum. Think how much tax you pay a month, and just how many people like you and me it takes to pay for a SINGLE long term unemployed person with a few kiddies. Think what other uses that money could be put to!

Yes i do agree and see what you are saying. In reality, what do you want the governemt to do? There is limited work when we take account of those who wants to work or not. So, in effect their will always be the unemployed (including those who really wanna work but cant get jobs and those who can but just dont want to) which the society have to look after.

If we want a change, i suppose we might have to go back to the grass root level and change one or two policies and set certain laws...

I'm really not sure what you mean by a "good" standard of living. Good compared to the third world, sure... living on benefits is really no way to live, I almost pity those without the aspirations or desire to go out there and better themselves for their own life and the lives of their numerous offspring.

All the time that the benifits combined are more than the average wage, who in their right mind would get a badly paid job which pays virtually nothing over collecting benifits which pay much more, and be able to bum around at the same time.

I know a girl, and her sister works 8 hours a week, and her husband chooses not to work. They have 2 kids, and through a combination of whatever benefits, tax credits, housing benefit etc- they have a nice 3 bedroom house, car, sky tv, etc. I find that disgusting.
