It's chavvy.

He's hardly steeling off anyone, just taking back some of the money his parent's have paid into the system. I'm sure they would prefer it going to their son rather than a random.

Dont pay in, dont claim.
His parents covered their share, not his.

What, to an education? How dare they want to actually learn things![]()
Having lived in shared accommodation with students...they all fail at basic life terribly.
But if you're the only one that can do it you have to do it for everyone else too. Nobody wants that. It's like being the only one that can drive at a party![]()
Well if he's not payed national insurance in the last 2 (I think) years he won't get cash for 6 months so it's a bit of a waste of time.
Anyway it's not all that cool really but if he wants to then theres not a lot stopping him.
Full-time students
If you’re studying full time, you may be able to claim Jobseeker's Allowance during the summer holiday if one of the following apply:
you're a single parent who is responsible for a child or young person
you have a partner who is also a full-time student, and one or both of you is responsible for a child or young person
You also need to be available for and actively seeking work.
You may also be able to claim if you’re waiting to go back to a course, having taken approved time out for a period of up to one year because of an illness or caring responsibility that has now come to an end.
Anyway i've paid a massive amount of tax after that in PAYE so i've more then paid it back that way
When I worked in the Jobcentre a few years back, I'm pretty sure claiming over the summer holidays wasn't possible unless you lied about future plans. I seem to remember that for JSA purposes, the academic year ran from Sept-Sept so you had to wait until September came around before you could put in a claim.
