Does anyone have an idea what the GTX560s are set to retail around?

Im thinking about the same amount as GTX460s when they came, so around £180? I'm hoping so and i have read quite a few articles about this as a suspected price.

Just wondering if anyone else had any other knowledge to add? Thanks

Wouldn't compare to the card it's about to replace, look at the 570, it's priced way above 470. I think you are looking at £199-£220 with lesser brands at £180-190 on release.

I need a new card - would i be better getting a good 460 for 160, or waiting for 560 for around £200. Im just quite desperate and not sure on the wait and extra cost over performance.

But i did see somewhere that it hit 17k on Vantage, where as stock 460 got 12.5, and OCed versions of 460 hit 14k.

Also i thought that the 560 was a revision of the same chip in 460, with extra shaders enabled and faster stock speed, surely it wont overclock much if it is stating at 820 on the same chip - is it not just higher starting clock (OC)? I cant find much about it.

You think correct. The 560 is just a refreshed 460 with 15% more shaders (actually the 460 had one-eigth of it's clusters disabled so as not to pee on the GTX 470's fire). I have owned and tested 5 GTX460's (2 ASUS, 1 MSI & 2 PNY) and all of them managed 900MHz and the best hitting 950MHz stable. If Nvidia have also refined the process (as they did with GF110) I don't see why GTX560's should not hit 900-1000MHz. Overclocked to those levels GTX560 might come close to 6900 performance although it will not be a direct competitor.

GTX560 will ultimateLy be pitted against the 6870 and sit somewhere between this and the 6950. My guess is that NVidia will launch at ~£180, forcing AMD to cut prices on it's 6800 range and possibly combat the 560 via 6950 price drops.

Thanks for the detailed answer.
Do you propose it's worth waiting to get, over a cheaper 460 then? As i'd prefer to go Nvidia over AMD

Edit: As i've got a 460 hawk coming tomorrow and im completely miffed as to what to do with it and i cant make up my mind aha.

Rumour is the 25th.

The only reason it never got pushed out before christmas was 460s were selling so well. This might be one of those times where hanging onto your £200 for an extra week might be worth it tbh.

No doubt Gibbo will have a burger-powered pyramid sometime soon :)

Ive got a 460 coming tomoz, ive decided i cba to return and wait. I cant have 90% of a new sandy bridge build sitting collecting dust for two weeks, after paying semi-premium. Ill get 660 lol.

Actually 2 weeks :O, and I cant possibly let my new system sit there for two weeks - I have no other spare gpus, and its my first build, I've already waited an extra month 'cause of SB; that was not fun lol.
I can sell it, but i probs wont, i will keep it till a new architecture'd mid/highrange gpu comes from nvidia, from posts above, 560 is only a revised 'unlocked' version of 460. Trust me i want to return it and wait, but i cant. Its a hard decision.

A 460 will be okay for 1 more year, surely?

Clock for clock the 560 will be a maximun of 15% faster than GTX460, but will probably cost 30-40% more. With both cards overclocked to 900MHz+ on the core the difference will still only be 15%. It is only when you compare a stock 460 (675core/3600mem) vs stock 560 (820core/4000mem??) that there will be a huge difference.

For anyone who already owns or has ordered a GTX460, just overclock it and smile at the money saved:).
