It's an early 60's Ford Thunderbird.

Yep, 3rd Gen 'bird. Built from '61 to '63. 390ci FE series V8. 4 barrel carb, 9.6:1 compression, rated at 300 horsies (gross rating) in the T-bird and 427 ft·lbf of torque. Pretty tuneable beyond that though. They did make a few 'birds in '62 with a 3x2bbl carb option on that engine, which are a bit more powerful.

Nice enough as 'birds go. The one in your picture looks like a Landau model - vinyl roof, the 'S' trim on the rear pillars - which makes it a '62 or '63.

Nope, just an American car nerd :)

Occasionally they crop up on eBay. There are a couple of 4th gen 'birds on there right now (in the Classic Cars section of eBay Motors), a white '64 and a red '66. Don't really know any dealers for them - there must be companies that bring them in, but most of the time they come over because a private buyer had it shipped.

OTT?

Got to be '50s, got to have fins and chrome, got to have a reasonably large engine, and you want them to have made a few....there can be only one winner of such a contest.

'59 Cadillac Series 62.

Pictures don't do justice to the size of them. Best part of 19ft long, 130in wheelbase, weighing in at over 5000lb and with a 390ci motor plonked in the front end. There's a site here showing the different body styles and their production numbers.

My mate's one is still up for sale. Brought it over from Las Vegas about 2 years ago, airbag suspension, custom mix candy pearl paint job, full custom white leather tuck and roll interior:

Also goes like stink and floats like a cloud :D
