We've been talking about old comics and comic strips in the office this morning and I'm sure I used to read an old comic when I was a kid and it starred a young but brilliant goalkeeper called "Tuffy" (or similar or he may have been a secondary character!)

Does anyone remember this as I can't find anything on Google....

Thanks guys...

I remember Hufty from the tv show "The Word" is that the same bloke?

No :(

I used to watch Buffy, a TV show about a vampire slaying high school student, is that what you where on about?

Not unless she did a bit of goalkeeping on the side.... and was in a comic! :p

Not "The Safest Hands In Soccer"?

Don't remember Tuffy though.

Don't think so!

I'm sure it was either a stand-alone comic book or might have been a comic strip in a newspaper!

He was a young keeper, plucked from Sunday league obscurity by a league team manager and went on to be this stunning keeper that went on to be a star!

*damned memory*

I remember Fluffy, a fictional pet elephant belonging to the character Oscar the Grouch on the TV series Sesame Street, is that what you mean?

Again sadly no!

Just to save a bit of time here, I'm pretty sure that all names rhyming with "Tuffy" are not what I'm after - unless they happen to portray a fictional goalkeeper in a comic, in which case it's possible that I'm remembering the name slightly wrong! :D

Hi Stevie. Tuffy "The homeless goalkeeper" was a character in the kids comic "The Buddy" in which indeed the rhetoric of each story was he never found a home. Even when he signed for Spurs!!! There was also "Limpalong Leslie" lest we forget who as he evaded tackles albeit one leg shorter than the other hails "Ho Ho! He telegraphed that one" Hope that help mate.

Quite simply the most awesome 1st post ever! :D

I mean who finds an 18 month old thread and answers it on the nose!?!?! Brilliant stuff! :p:p:p

Notwithstanding @Chris O'Neill 's superb answer - and with his first post no less - having re-read my thread I posted this in 2013 and it was resurrected by @Melthebelle (who doesn't appear to be on the forum any longer?) after a mere 5 years - again with his only 2 posts!!!!

Sommat weird is going on here - there appears to be a pool of 1980's comic strip enthusiasts prowling the internet just looking to create accounts to answer random questions!

I love this forum!!! :D
