Does BT have a answering service?

When i dial 1471 i get the number of the last person to call me and when i dial 1571 i get to hear who have left me messages. But i was wondering does BT offer a service where you can leave your own personal message?

Is the premuim 1571 service (1571 plus or something) what you're after? It's in there with caller display and call waiting...

You can customise the 1571 service to have your own message on it. Just go into the options when you dial into it.

when i dial 1571 the message says 'you have no messages, thank you for calling BT answer, goodbye.'

There is no options, how do i access them?

You need to subscribe and pay £1.50 per month.
