:D turning 18 next month (first legal pint yay!) however just noticed i have no id card/ provisional lisence so was wondering if my out of date passport would work? it expired in 2008  thanks

Yes of course it will.

I wasn't allowed to start my last job until I showed them a copy of my passport, even though I was working there as a temp at the time  and I had recently changed my surname so the passport was invalid and had my previous surname on yet they still accepted it....

My cousin recently turned 18 and because her passport was more than 5 years old she wasn't able to use it as I.D.

I would assume that she looked nothing like the picture that was on it though?

Didn't think of that when I wrote the above!

Hope for common sense. My Visa card (with a picture on it) has been accepted every single time I have tried here even if it's not counted as a official form of ID.

If it looks like you in the picture I see why not, unless you tried flying with it or something ;)

I've been using my passport to get into clubs/pubs/etc and that expired this summer. As long as it looks like you I doubt they even look at the expiry date.

It is not technically valid, and you MIGHT have problems - I speak from experience. So far, only one bouncer wouldn't let me in, another complained but let me in anyway, rest didn't mention it. No problems in shops yet though.

It is still a valid form of ID in the land of commonsense. It's not like when it expires you suddenly get younger. But it depends on the person and whether they want to be a **** or not.

Technically no though.

Depends on the door staff but considering it expired 2yrs ago and your only just turning 18 i'd imagine the picture is pretty out of date and therefore you will probably have issues, if it was an expired adult one you would probably be fine as you dont change to much once your old.

How many bouncers do you know who have/use common sense? That would interfere with their power-trip.
At least one, me :D

I used my passport as proof of id since I was 17 worked for a whole year. Only a couple of savvy bouncers checked the date most just looked at the photo and waved me in
