Does pretty much everyone upgrade their motor when they hit 25?

I've just turned 25, is it worth me contacting my insurance company to find out if I'm entitled to a discount, or would that only apply when I renew in November?

Insurance costs typically decrease on a sliding scale, so in theory you could ask the question of "does everybody wish to buy a 911 at the age of 50 becaues you can then afford to insure it". The right answer is have a scan at the costs of insurance and THEN make a decision, regardless of age.

Ref the IS200, well I like them. Their interiors are "interesting" and IMO of high quality, if a little bling. Sure, they're not fast or economical, but fast is rapidly becoming pointless on our gridlocked roads and if your mileage is low, then who cares about economy. More importantly, they're a nice place to be, very reliable and dirt cheap s/h for what you get. They were top of the pile of cars that I was considering as a second car for the missus.

I'd like to but can't afford anything better than the ST220 at the min.

Insurance didn't go down much at 25 really, but then insurance hasn't been much an issue since turning 21.

I'm 22 got my car in sig in november last year and plan on holding on to it at least for a couple of years. Like others said the so called drop at 25 is pretty non-existent plus my insurance is already pretty steep anyway.

I'm on car number 6 now and I'm 20. My insurance drops huge amounts each year. Insurance dropped nearly £1k when I hit 20, new car time :p? Made a profit so far :D

Sort of surprised you can get a GTI ed30 or R32 for a decent insurance price. When I was looking, and saw a 12k mile £12k Golf GTI Pirelli, admiral wanted £2500. :(

Ouch, how old are you if you don't mind me asking? I'm on around £1.3K for GTI and £1.4k for an R32.

Still yet to make my mind up if to go ahead, stick with my current car or try something non VAG.
