Does windows 8 bring anything to PC Gamers?

Win8 is worse than ME. Avoiding it like the plague.
Microsoft is losing their midas touch. 7 is the last great piece of software from them and I have a feeling it will be that way for years, if not permanently. I can't see them being the force they were anymore. MS is clueless and out of touch, faced with modernizing behemoths like Google and Apple paving the way for software and hardware.

I've used Windows 8 a bit on and off and I must admit for the first few days I was like "Ack... why bother with all this metro stuff?!". But after a few days that didn't become an annoyance as even on a lame low speed HDD it always felt snappy with the switching to desktop/metro being seemless.

I still don't get why metro is there and it is kin of annoying that it defaults opening pictures and such to full screen metro apps but that takes 2 seconds to fix. On the initial install there should be Windows 8 mode and Windows 8 Classic mode which just makes the desktop play in a similar way to Windows 7 but allows all the additional features of 8. Maybe make metro start menu run at 1280x720 so it doesn't make use of though whole screen but will still work with their design? The metro start menu isn't that big of an issue after a few days of using it as I barely use the start menu with Windows 7 and in 8 even though it is full screen it is very snappy and jumping back and forth to.

I kind of liked Window 8 new features and it does seem like a faster OS than 7 mainly because a lot of the code has been re-written for lower powered devices and lots of legacy code has been removed. But with that I don't feel the urge or see the point of upgrading until stuff like Chrome, Steam, winamp and the programs I use on a daily basis make use of Metro and make use of it well :p For example a Battlelog app would work really well and could be made to look really slick and fancy. But it has to be faster than going to the website which it could be, I don't think developers will make these type of apps though as first off they have to go through MS and secondly there isn't any profit in it.
