During the week I drive a white van, sometimes at the weekend i drive a Honda Accord (wifes).

When im in the van no one tailgates me or pulls out in front, but when im in the Honda i get other drivers 2 foot from my bumper not giving way etc. When i had a bike i would get tailgated too and that was on a GPZ 900, i never hang about.

I dont drive either any differently so why do other drivers treat me differently.

Anyone else get this?

I seem to get it in either car I drive, most likely because of either the go faster stripes or the BT livery..not my driving though, never, I'm an angel.. :p

I did a 3 month job helping out a builder renovate a house after a fire a couple of years back, I didn't have a car at the time and he was living on site so he let me use his. H reg nissan bluebird, horrible horrible car but reliable as anything. He never serviced it, cleaned it or anything, and you can imagine how dirty it was being a builders vehicle. It was amazing how many motorist got out of my way while I was driving that thing.

Yeah, when i drive the my GFs Clio loads of people pull out in front of me, and cut me up on round a bouts, however when im in the mondeo (not the best or biggest car, i know) not half the number of people pull out or cut me up.

You still get people doing it, but not the same as the when i drive the Clio. My GF also notices it too.

Driving my Punto i get people tail gating, overtaking, pulling out, and all that rubbish.

When i drive my parents car, no one does that, at all

It seems the first two replys have completely misunderstood the question.
Not at all. I will now expand on my first post, for the benefit of those who have trouble with the concept of inference.

In the Elise I get people sitting in my blind spot taking photos on their mobiles on the motorway, I get chavs within inches of my exhausts trying to get me to go faster in town and people let me out of side streets/don't let me out of side streets and shout abuse as they slow down and pass.

Whereas in the Corsa I get people up my exhaust because I can't go any quicker as it's too slow.

On my bike I get 1 of 3 things.

Either they give me a space and are generally curteous to bikers.
Don't see me at all - in which case I give them plenty of room.
Close gaps on purpose and position themselves to stop me filtering or overtaking, tailgate me, won't pull over etc...

In my car, I get what I get in any car - bad drivers all around me. But maybe people behave a little less aggressively (for London) as they probably think I'm a bit limp wristed :p

I've had a few flashes and toots of approval from people I've "played" with whilst in my car - but that's immature and I'd never do that ;)

Oh, I forgot the waves too. Lotii and even other sports cars normally wave back, girls in superminis will wave unprompted too (some even blow kisses  ) and men in MPVs will shout abuse.

Only funny look I've had from a wave was after waving at a very conspicuous sports car a chap I know had owned. The driver looked very confused as we crossed paths then I realised, a hundred yards later, the car had changed hands the week before and it wasn't the bloke I knew at all :D

When my car was badged up as an M3 I kept getting people trying to race me.

Removed the badges and it seems to have done the trick.

In the 3 weeks or so since I got the Alfa, I've noticed more people sitting up my arse than in the Rover. I also seem to get tageted by the local Saxo / Corsa etc boys at the lights nowadays. Of course I don't indulge them, that would be so immature ;)

I've also found that people in the higher peowered hatches (Leon Cupras & things like that), like to have a bit of a play too.

Only annoying thing I've really found is people not letting me out on busy sliproads, definitely different from in the Rover. Not sure what the crack is there, but it's annoying!

And thats exactly the same i get between the Mazda and Clio....

I have noticed this, usually drive a 607 and large saloons generally get lots of space on the motorway - there is always the odd moron but generally lots of space.

However, I once borrowed my mums 1.2 clio and found that I was tailgated and cut up all the time, assumably because I was in an easy to pick on small saloon.

Yes it does, but ive only driven 2 cars, and considering one had a big sign on the roof saying driving school its kinda an unfair comparison :p

I've only had a few barries challenge me to a traffic light GP since getting the Mondeo. One fool and his mates with their 1.4 Corsa avec 4 inch zorst yo had the cheek to call me "grandad"!

Just pointed to the V6 badge on the wing, shook my head, and promptly let them rev their silly little 4 pot off, wheel spinning their clutch and tyres away.

Apart from that, I just treat other drivers like they're out to do me damage... and stay the hell away from them - best way I've found so far :)

I've noticed more people tend to hurl abuse at me when I overtake now than when I was in the Mondeo.

Other than that, not really noticed anything. Still get let out of junctions.

In the MR2, you get legions of boy racers wanting a go at the lights.

Same in my 200sx, i used to rise to it - now i cant be bothered and leave them to their next chavvy quest. I drive a nail of a nova day to day, people like to pull out infront of that. As for work, a signwritten white van..... people seem to steer clear ;)
