Well does your facial features give away your personality, sharp narrow nose = nasty(from my experience) and so on noticed a lot of people who look similar often behave similar as well.Surely must be something to this that is related. What are your thoughts.

No, you're your brain. You're not what you look like.

Emotions, personality etc are all controlled and delivered by the mind. The vehicles they use aren't effected by your appearance etc.

Case in point is Stephen Hawking, despite having an electronic voice, I can still see his personality and sense of humour underneath it, it doesn't seem to be affected by it. :)

I'm not of the same opinion iCraig.

Obviously I understand how they're totally independent in the respect you describe, but I believe people are treated differently if they look certain ways. This of course alters the development of your personality as you mature and can have a very big effect on you.

agreed since you proceve that person as some one either different or not who they actualy are you treat them differently and therefore get a different reaction out of them than what you normaly would ....

looks arnt everything i guess ....

I agree with the OP, its something i've thought about for a while as it goes. While i may not be able to tell what specific features mean what, i get a general opionion on how a persons personality is by their face. Can't explain myself properly as im off my face on pain killer, but you get the gist.

Like if someone with a physical facial affliction becomes jaded from a tirade of abuse and rejection?

If so then yes, good point Zefan. However, a deeper question after that is if that is truly their personality being changed away from a path it should have been going down, or simply developing in exactly the same way ours do. Everyone's personality matures from the world's influence, theirs' is simple more apparent.

Not just that. A girl can be accepted really different just because she's blonde. A guy that has a defined jaw line will get more female attention, which may inflate his ego and his personality may be affected.

Kids TV and cartoons have portrayed villains as pointy nosed dark haired in appearance for a long time, in my opinion it's these sorts of things that heavily influence how a child will make friends and thus develop accordingly.

Without a doubt peoples faces and especially their eyes can tell you a lot about them. It's not going to be right 100% of the time but I think peoples life stories do reflect in the way they look.

yeh but its how we proseve there appearence, we assume that if thay have wounds in there face or a black eye they may be a chav (example only) and not assume what realy happen as we normaly think and assume the first thing that pops into our head.......the features will tell you the facts that person got surgery that person got burnt etc but it wont say how or why .....

To the OP, perhaps this is more of a reflection of self? What you fear/admire in others is based on your own experiences in life and your ideas of right and wrong. Have you thought that you may in fact be reading people incorrectly and do not have all the information to hand to make a decision?

I am sure this idea that facial features equate to behaviour was documented in the 18th Century and found to have little basis in fact.
