I watched the Penn & Teller Bull**** series about it (only last week) and they had PETA members on describing what they believe in.
Not any old PETA members but the heirarchy nonetheless.
It was also interesting to see that one of the founder members uses Metformin that was tested on animals but she says it's OK because animals need a spokesperson to speak up for them.

The documentary was 2004 so it looks like PETA have done a BNP

Hmmm unfortunately that does not translate into 'no PETA members keep pets'. Their stance, as specified on their own website, is that it would be better if pet culture had never arisen, but now that it has, it's important for any pets that are kept to be kept in certain conditions.

Hence they are justifying their own keeping of pets by saying that the animal in question is better off with them than without.

And why would that be? I'm humbled and touched deeply by your thoughtfulness.

Still no updates on whether the animal was chipped or not. It probably won't be so I'm going to start the search for new cheap parts tomorrow. Hopefully I can get them from breakers somewhere locally.

Like I said, they are doing a BNP.
In 2004 no PETA members kept pets so they have had to alter their stance probably because of the 100s of 1000s of animals they had to murder every year.
I'm pretty sure the documentary is on You Tube and well worth a watch (as all Penn & Tellers Bull**** series is)
