Domain reg with email addresses?

Does anyone know of anywhere I can register a domain name and it allows me set up multiple email addresses too?

It is for a friend who wants his own domain, simply so he can have whichever email addresses he wants as he sick of [email protected] and want to register his own domain.

He isnt bothered about hosting a webpage or anything just the emails.

Have tried gmail and the free providers of email and the addresses he wants are taken.

123-reg.co.uk will do that job.
Register a domain and you get unlimited free e-mail addresses to go with your new domain.
However note that as with most companies where you can register a domain, you are given free e-mail forwarders.
So you need to configure the forwarders to forward to your ISP's account and edit the "From" details so mail appears to come from your domain name.

123-reg.co.uk will offer you a full POP3 service if you like, but as with most companies this is a premium service and usually adds a little to your yearly fee.

...for your email client and multiple email boxes, etc???

Would also recommend doing the above. Allows you to setup multiple gmail accounts using your own domain.

What exactly is this google apps thing?

Not seen it before, but lookign at it, it may even be useful for where I work

The standard version is quite impressive for free, to the extent that it almost seems a shame that I only use it for a few gmail accounts.
