Has anyone got this combo, and got anywhere with overclocking.

Im still noob on the memory stuff and wondered if someone coudl help me how i should hav this setup or the board settings to get the best out of them.

I have currently a E6600 cpu but not getting anywhere ,, prior had a e6300 which went upto 3ghz easy this aint bugin over 2.7!! why oh why.. thought it could be my psu as i hav got a 8800gts in and the juice is not enough so just ordered a corsair hx620 to replace my tagan 480w. will find out if this helps by tommrw but if u can kindly tell me settings i shouls use would be ToPs!

With that CPU and MOBO, I'd suggest you OC the system using a 1:1 ratio as the 975x chipsets don't seem to like dividers all that much. Set the RAM timings manually to spex and 2.2v.

Once you get it stable, depending on your FSB speed, you may be able to lower the latencies some.

when you say 1:1 ... and sorry in being a Noob.. but you mean place it 33.3 or was that PCI to 100? in the settings thanks.

PSU should be more than capable.

My tagan 580 powered an e6600 @ 3.4ghz and an 8800GTX.

As for the ram. Keep it linked (1:1) so it runs the same speed as the FSB and clock away.

If you clocked to your memories rated speed (533mhz) your e6600 would be @ 4.8ghz which is not that likely. Consquently i'd assume either you need more ram voltage or the motherboard is guessing settings for your ram. If it's tightened your latencies it won't clock as high.

I'm amazed it's stopping you @ 2.7ghz as that would rate your ram @ PC4800 which is way low!!!

yep.. somehow the board is funny with the ram not doing what it should do.

still waiting for some 8500 ram currently got the gskill 64000 HZ modules , they should get up to 1000 or slightly lower.

I have now reached 2.974 with 330 fsb set the setting at PCI to 100 and something else to 33.3... but my latencies are droped to 5-5-5-15 once i found my best speed i will up the latency i guess to see what will happen.

UPDATE: now upped the latencies to 4-4-4-12 at 2.97 speed. I was unable to go any higher than this, with lower timings.

WHAT Voltage max can i go up on the CPU ?

my batch of 8500 will come next week now had to send the others to a friend. Thinking this CPU is not doing what i want and was one of the first batches of e6600 im gona get the E6700 and see what i get!!

Else its another board like maybethe p5b or the ABIT 650 chipset. Fata1ity..
Also thinking maybe of the new p35 chipset p5K but thats a little more on the price with that price could go to to the 680 chipset my limits to be around £140.

IS there anyone with the *500 dominators and ASUS p5w DH board ?

if so can you please sahre your settings Thanks V much. i got my 8500 now.

i have managed to get some settings mostly on auto and switched of Hyper off,

now i have reached 3ghz but it wont go any higher with stability did get in with 3.15ghz blue screened had my volts up too.

thisiswith 4-4-4-12 on gskill HZ running at 834mhz i thought these could hit upto 1000 i cannot get them to run at 900? maybe need to loosen the timings!!

thanks all for your help though.

OH yeh with my new psu nothing i can see has majorly improved except that my 8800 seems to have it fan running much faster ??!!! i had moved from 480w to this 620w
