I've got a bookcase full of books I've bought within the last 2 years that I need to offload. Anyone got any recommendations of any charities or companies that take second-hand books for good causes?

Quite a lot of recycling centres have donation bins for books. You often tend to see them in the mini recycling centres you get in supermarket car parks.

Or if you know anyone with a wood burner.

Most charity shops will take them I believe so you could always pick a charity you agree with and see if they'll take them.

My job has a book swap shop type thing whereby you can exchange a book you no longer want for one on the shelves, I don't know if your employer does similar but it may be worth setting up if you don't have one and want an easy way to read more?

Oxfam Book Shop would be the best bet I reckon, they get a lot more foot traffic than the normal charity shops and therefore will raise more money.
Or go to a charity that you have a particular fondness for and donate them.

My university has a book swap, it's pretty small but sometimes you find some good'uns. I actually always have a book in my bag to swap in-case I see a good one.

Most hospitals will be very happy with book donations. You could also contact your local MIND office and they will have drop in centres which always need books. Where are you based?
