Me and the mrs are having a weekend away in a few weeks and are staying just below Donington Park so were thinking of going to see the BTCC on the 3rd of May :)

Just wondered if anyone had any recommendations? What time to get there/where to stand etc etc

Thanks for any advice!

Get there early , i normaly go about 8am it can be a nightmare to park, then bring with you two fold up chairs and a cool box with food/drink and head for the big grassy bit in the middle of the track, plonk yourself just down from Craner Curves and enoy the day.

Lovely place local to me 'ish. It's Haunted though so take a bat with you :p
At Donny sit on the grass on the inside of Craner Curves but don't forget to take in at least one race at the end of the straight at Redgate facing on coming Motors/bikes. Awesome buzz seeing them flying towards you & braking for Redgate. Inside by Craners you get a great sweeping view of them going through Craner curves the old hairpin & under starkeys bridge towards schwantz & Mcleans, The Missus will be well happy there & you can plot up

Yeah there are places where you can get closer to the action, the run down the the Melbourne hairpin for example, but the infield looking down on the Craners is about as good as anywhere in the country for viewing a large section of the track from one place.

Right near the airport too so plenty of travel lodge type places just minutes away from there, have a look on east midlands' site for some suggestions. As for viewing spot I like opposite where rpstewart just suggested on the outfield looking as people come down craner curves and down the bottom right right hander (Old hairpin i think its known as), you get a good close view there and can get up to the little "carlube" bridge too and get within 25ft of the track there!
