No, it's not an eBay replica. An American chap who made (and still makes) a pot of money in high finance decided the Enzo was ugly. So, he did what any sensible soul would, bought a new one and comissioned Pininfarina to rebody it for him just as the coachbuilders used to. Naturally he's being cagey with the details but it sounds like an incredible project. It'll be unveiled at Pebble Beach in the US later this year. The link below gives a bit more information.

You don't need to be rich to know that the Enzo is a hideous looking car ;)

It'll be interesting to see the end result, especially having Pininfarina working on it.

"What are your performance goals for this car besides better then Enzo, if any?"

To have something beautiful and usable. Something that reminds you of a glorious past but moves you into the future. Something that you can trust to get you and someone you Love down the Grand Cornish to the Hotel de Paris in time to finish your desert as the fireworks go off. Something to drive into the dawn. Not something that can beat a 1500hp Supra from the stoplight but something that brings back the memories of Nino, Lorenzo and John driving The Targa, Le Mans, and The Nuremberg Ring...

It was all sounding so good until he mentioned "The Nuremberg Ring" :p

What's funnier is the number of people on that forum who have said it's a great quote but haven't picked him up on it :p

HAHAHAHAHAHA I picked up on that too, I mean you may have enough money to buy a new Enzo and get it re-bodied but money doesn't buy you knowledge. :D

wow, sounds an amazing project, ill be watching the closing ceremony of the winter olympics just in case. loving this quote

I will say this. Over the weekend a friend of mine who has 3 Zonda's 2 Enzos, an FXX, 4 430's, 8 360's, a 333 SP, several F40's including a GTE, a MC12... (You get the picture) was shown some early photo's of what I'm talking about and his respone was:

"Jim people say I'm crazy but you're the one who's really crazy."

I'm sure it was an honest typo, I've followed a lot of this guy's projects in the past and he's a genuine historical racing fan, owning several 60s Le Mans race cars.

Well if autocar are to believed the new 575 replacement is due to have a version of the Enzo's engine etc.. Bound to be cheaper - though a might less exclusive :P

Saw the 599GTB test mule in Maranello and on Fiorano last year. Sounded good but it's certainly no Enzo.

I always rebody my new supercars when i get them, they're still pretty bland from factory, especially the plain jane zonda s, good job i got the new max power to sort it out with wiper spoilers and a dragon decal

:p

The latest Evo has a couple of pages on the 599 GTB. It will have a development of the Enzo engine, producing 611bhp.
